I have to say that it was not until I began dating my now wife that I found work/life balance.
With the addition of our dog Nelly and now our son Roman, I realize how much I was lacking. I’ve made it a priority to carve out time and space to enjoy them even if it’s just cooking together, going for walks or out to dinner.
Love of research and a willingness to make mistakes are the most important skills to possess.
I would have to say my time at mk Restaurant was the most impactful.
It was there that I met and began lifetime friendships and relationships. I worked under Erick Williams (from Virtue) who to this day is my mentor and champion, as well as my wife. Without mk, I wouldn’t have found my way to Next.
Believe it or not I find inspiration in the work of other artisans whether it be a potter, painter, etc.
I also find inspiration in everyday things, objects, nature, those around me.
