Consistent contribution beats perfection. It's hard to beat someone who is dangerously consistent. Give freely, share often, and don’t wait until it’s perfect to add value — especially in hospitality, where real industry connections often trump polish.

Advice from Jamie Gibson

Quotes about career path, skills, and teamwork from an industry leader.
One piece of advice from a mentor that has stuck with me is "Don’t just think outside the box — question why the box exists in the first place." That mindset helped me build a brand and business model in an industry that didn’t have one.
To foster inclusion and connection, I host in-person gatherings where people can let their guard down, enjoy something beautiful, and connect beyond the job.
Creating a thoughtful atmosphere leads to deeper community.
I can’t say it enough — there is power in building a community.
I started Flightess by giving away free knowledge and value, and over time it became the go-to voice at the intersection of luxury hospitality and private aviation. By knowing my audience intimately, I’ve been able to create mentorship programs, products, and recruiting offerings that directly serve their evolving needs.
We bring in guest speakers across multiple industries to speak to our Flightess Mentorship community.
It’s a way to spark fresh insight that our members can immediately bring back to the aircraft.
I devour biographies and hospitality books.
Favorite podcasts: "The Him & Her Show," "Social Currency," as well as "Aspire" by Emma Grede, and Jefferson Fisher.
For self-care, I love to have a solo iced coffee run somewhere new — early and unrushed.
I also jog and keep my phone upstairs during playtime with my kids. It keeps me present.
I find inspiration from Pinterest, podcasts, books, thoughtful conversations with strangers, and wherever I eat or travel.
A high EQ is so important for my job.
Being able to intuit what someone needs before they say it is critical when your “office” is someone’s private jet. Verbal professionalism, polished demeanor, and immaculate grooming all matter.
When hiring, I look for kindness, intelligence, and creativity — in that order.
If someone has that foundation, I can train the rest.
