Education

Advice from Jake Wade

Quotes about career path, skills, and teamwork from an industry leader.
My Mother is my mentor.
She gives back to those in need and her community, she is a great listener. She is retired, but worked her ass off while raising three kids. She never complained, just figured out how to get it all done. She loves like no other, is kind and resourceful. A wonderful example of what I try to emulate.
When hiring, my approach is much different than most.
I do not dissect a candidate's resume and experience. Sure, it is important to an extent, but I would much rather hire a great attitude from someone who is extremely hungry to learn. Your attitude determines your altitude!
I pay it forward as much as I possibly can, and try to always say yes to my team's requests.
They in turn always pay it back organically. We speak daily with an open format that allows us all to work on our opportunities and continue to learn. We keep it extremely fun!
We all have a choice daily to be positive or not.
I choose positivity. I extract what others can teach me and listen as much as possible.
I read a good amount of books, even a “bad book” can teach us something.
The one thing I can’t live without to do my job is my team!!
I'm honest with my team.
I feel sometimes inclusivity and caring can also mean skirting the truth, and that does not help anyone.
Maintaining a healthy work/life balance is extremely important!
There are many ways to accomplish this and they all are part of this puzzle that so many cannot solve. The work part of this needs to be fun and when it becomes difficult we support each other. The military saying “embrace the suck” is a great way of looking at things that are not our favorite. When we embrace it with a smile and laughter it gets much easier. Our team or any team that goes through difficult times together will always grow better and closer together. Like I stated earlier, I want to always say yes to a request and pay it forward. I try to understand what is important to my team and give it that importance, but we need to listen and understand what everyone wants and needs. This is all very simple, how would I like to be treated?
Self-care for me is spending time with my wife and family.
I wake up early, work out daily, eat extremely clean and give everything I can.
