Michelin announced its annual selections in the United States for 2019. Stars and city guides have been issued for restaurants in Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Washington, DC.

The grading system of Michelin stars used by the infamous red Michelin Guide rates restaurants around the world. According to the Guide, one star indicates "a very good restaurant", two stars are reserved for "excellent cooking that is worth a detour", and three stars are synonymous with "exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey".
