One piece of advice that has stuck with me is:
Keep it simple!
Since my early 20s I've gravitated towards hospitality - I always looked forward to the moments when I could go out to eat or try a new craft beer… it's what brings me the most joy in my life!
I used to believe that working long hours was a badge of honor, but since the birth of my daughter I've prioritized time with my family as well as regular exercise and meditation.
By focusing on my well-being I found that I have become a better leader, colleague, parent, etc.
Attitude, passion and drive lead the way when I am looking for candidates.
While technical experience is great, an individual with a strong, positive attitude, passion for the job and an insatiable drive can learn anything.
We are in the business of making people happy - continuing to grow our business and see individuals within the company develop over time is what brings me the most joy.
I read every day - between leadership development books, daily newspapers, industry-related articles and other resources such as the Harvard Business Review.
