Advice from Stephanie Jackson

Quotes about career path, skills, and teamwork from an industry leader.
There are five things that I could not do my job without - Cynde, Brittnee, Alex, Marina, and Jennifer.
I rely on the expertise of these five extraordinary people every single day.
The hospitality industry offers the possibility of a level playing field.
Your background and education don’t matter as much as your perseverance, resilience, optimistic attitude, and work ethic. I’m excited about the opportunity that I have at Aurify Brands to build leadership development programs that will help our managers and employees grow their careers.
When screening applicants, I am uncompromising when it comes to culture.
I appreciate when a candidate has reflected on how our values align with their own. Our best people are optimistic, authentic, and in constant pursuit of excellence. Our managers empower others, communicate with clarity, align business practices with their beliefs, and innovate with integrity.
Parenthood has been a humbling experience and one that forced me to think differently about work/life balance.
As a recovering perfectionist, I have struggled with recognizing my limitations. As my kids (now a four-year-old and two-year-old twins) grow, I learn that done is better than perfect. And I don’t take for granted that I have a supportive partner who has my back when I do need to put in extra hours at work.
Going from restaurant life to the corporate world was a significant shift in my career.
A restaurant ‘family’ is together so much that you develop a sixth-sense on a dining room floor. It took me a while to find my communication groove in a corporate setting, where you need to be explicit when asking for help.
The biggest lesson that I have learned is that mise-en-place is everything, for any role.
Whether you’re polishing glasses for a 200-person wedding, setting your station up for dinner service, writing a performance review or drafting a presentation, you need everything in its place before the actual event. Flawless execution depends on preparation (and I’ve found the same goes for an interview!).
