Kim Nguyen

Owner | Third Coast Restaurant Group
Being in the restaurant as long as I have, I’ve learned that the work never ends. Finding joy in working with different people on a daily basis outweighs the sometimes tedious and repetitive motions of restaurant life. Loving this industry and what it entails helps as well.

Advice from Kim Nguyen

Quotes about career path, skills, and teamwork from an industry leader.
I’ve learned that understanding our individual experiences and self growth can lead to great accomplishments and self satisfaction.
We’re all human beings and will make unintended mistakes. How we deal with those mistakes defines our true character.
I keep my team motivated by consistently reminding my team why we do what we do.
We do what we do because we enjoy bringing smiles to our patrons’ faces. We do what we do because this is how we want to be treated when we bring our family and friends to a restaurant. We do what we do because we have something special we want to share with others. We offer a great dining experience in a clean and safe environment for all people. This is shown through our wonderful work culture.
I find inspiration through the people I work with.
Everyone has a story to tell and a reason why they come to work. It’s one thing for me to try to build a successful business, but it’s more important for me to build relationships with the people I work with and make a positive impact on their lives. I work hard for my family as well as these people who I consider my extended family.
There is no doubt working in a restaurant can be stressful at times – so stressful that it is easy to give up and not try to do our best.
It is easier to disappoint yourself than someone you know cares about you. We definitely treat each other as family so we act as one. Every holiday we have a get-together to share a meal and bond outside of work. A family that eats together stays together.
It’s all about balance.
Balancing work-life with family life has helped me avoid burning out. Setting aside quality time for family activities, to workout, to read, gives me time for myself.
It is important to me to keep an open mind and to learn everything I can from everyone I come into contact with.
I’ve learned to stay humble and to enjoy the process and not the results.
