It is very difficult to maintain a healthy work/life balance and I am learning ways to do this well every single day.
First and foremost, listen to your body. If you don't feel well often, if you're tired and lethargic, consider what you can do to make yourself feel better. Drink plenty of water and eat balanced meals and most importantly move your body. For work, ensure that your schedule is balanced, plan ahead and leave room for flexibility, most importantly always consider how your actions/ behavior/ response times affect other individuals.
I read A LOT of books, ask a lot of questions and travel to spaces and places that provide me the opportunity to expand my knowledge.
I find inspiration in stories, experiences, music, art and moments.
I find ways to recreate impressions that were made on me and to retell stories in a way that my guests can enjoy.
I prioritize my team’s interests and align those interests with skills and information that are essential to understanding the overall topic or theme on hand.
Finding a great balance between these two things will make you successful with continuing to educate your team while aligning with their personal interests.
Being humble and open to humility are two things that will make you successful in any career you choose to take on.
The issues that we face within the food and beverage sector can sometimes be complex and nuanced and it's important to continue to grow/ learn and be open to comments and critiques to become a better professional and version of yourself.
